The Oshawa Presbytery (of the United Church) passed a motion to petition the Government of Canada to halt the current plans to development of an airport of any kind on the lands in Pickering and to enter into long term leases with the tenant farmers.

“In recent months we made great progress on (issues regarding) the proposed Pickering Airport and tenants, and former Transport Minister Jean Lapierre made a number of clear commitments,” says Holland. “I expect the new government to follow through on these, and will be seeking a meeting with the new Transport Minister at the earliest possible to discuss this."
